Have done a few Kilometers on my bike in the last week and a bit, I still love riding, it just gives you such an immense sense of freedom.
Went up to Nandom again, the road gets easier every time I do it, I’m starting to enjoy the ride. Funny when I think back to the first time and I remember thinking that I wasn’t going to make it all the way there without falling off.
Marilyn was in fine form as usual, I always get fed quite well when I see here, she makes excellent Ghanaian and Western Dishes so it’s always a treat. She has extended until the end of August which is good as she has done so much work with the school she is in. What with teaching, teacher workshops and projects like the ICT center and the school newspaper.
There are two Dutch boys (Saunders and Lukas) who are volunteering at Nandom Secondary School through their school back in the Netherlands. They are IT students and are using this time as the technical practicum. They are tons of fun and always a great laugh. I think they are going to go far on their chosen paths.
They have helped set up the ICT center with Marilyn and were only supposed to be here until the end of January but have extended till the end of March. I have been working with them trying to get some handover information done and certain jobs done to help with the change over to a Ghanaian Tech, we will see how this all goes.
For Nandom I went to Ko which is only about 20 mins away. There is a peace corp. volunteer here called Jo. A nice fellow from Chicago who is working in the senior school teaching and basically doing whatever he can. He has got his hands on a few computers and, so I am trying to help get them working again.
From here it was down through Lawra with a stop in to say Hi to Alison before heading back to Wa. Usually on this Trip I leave on Sunday morning and am back Tuesday afternoon. It is a nice trip and made doubly so by the lovely volunteers I get to visit along the way.
I will be going to Accra next week for two weeks to look at the Ministry of Educations website, unsure on what I will be doing but am excited for a new challenge.
