The rumours about Belgium beer and chocolate and waffles are all true. We have been in Belgium for a couple nights and have started the enormous task of drinking and eating as much of the local commodities as we can before our time here is up.
Den Hagg and Rotterdam were fun, quite real cities which are a contrast to their black sheep of a brother Amsterdam. Both cities had some cool buildings and art dotting the city. We went to an Escher gallery in Den Hagg which contained some amazingly creative and brilliant works of art, I have no idea he can make the transformations and different reality planes work like that.
We were able to catch a couple movies in Rotterdam; Xmen 3 and Cars. I enjoyed being able to do a semi normal activity in a life that has been filled with anything but experiences. I have been gone for almost four months now and I miss the little things rather than any big things, of course you miss your friends and family, but I miss things like honey mustard, Tim Horton’s icecaps, English TV and the normal things that fill the lives of people at home. And though I look forward to having those again I don’t want them again that quickly, I would like to have that for a day and then go back to what I have now.
Bruges was nice, not too much to do there; we only spent one night there but had the good fortune to be there on the night there was a free concert in a park and got to listen to an awesome African band. Â A bit of a touristy city but worth a visit, it has a quite charm and walking along the streets past the chocolatiers in the beautiful buildings or down by the river your can come to appreciate it.
Brussels doesn’t really have all that much to-do and we have been told by many people that it’s not worth a look but we both agree you should really look. The Grand Place square is surrounding by beautiful old buildings and the city is not all that tourist, so you can at least experience it without selling your first born. The amount of waffle, chocolate and beer shops is quite astonishing all filled with orgasms for your mouth. The beers are amazing, and their variety of flavours and colours then come in is quite astonishing, more so is that there are specialized glasses for most of them.
We are in Belgium till the 29th which is when the concert in Werchter is. I’ll be going to just the first day then Me and Jeff part ways and I am off to Denmark and Jeff finishes up the last couple days of the concert before heading home.
